Located in Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture, Genyemon is a sculpture studio that employs traditional wood carving techniques to create dynamic works that will be cherished for generations.
The history of Japanese wood carving dates back to the 6th century, with a significant rise in prominence during the Edo period, thanks to skilled shrine and temple carvers. Genyemon carries on the legacy of these master craftsmen, dedicated to passing down Japan's 1,400-year-old wood carving tradition to the next generation.
The studio's head craftsman, Ken Nakashoji, began his apprenticeship in 2012 at the renowned Kinoshita Woodcraft Workshop in Kishiwada. Over the years, he has honed his skills by contributing to traditional Japanese carvings, including festival floats (danjiri) and temple sculptures. His exceptional craftsmanship and passion aim to inspire appreciation for Japanese wood carving culture both domestically and internationally, especially among younger generations.

大阪府岸和田市に位置する「源右衛門」は、伝統的な木彫技術を駆使し、未来へと受け継がれるダイナミックな作品を創出する彫刻店です。
日本の木彫文化は6世紀に遡り、江戸時代には宮彫り職人が台頭しました。「源右衛門」は、これら宮彫り職人の足跡を継承し、1400年の歴史を持つ日本の木彫技術を次世代へ伝えることを使命としています。
代表の中庄司健は、2012年に大阪・岸和田の老舗「木下彫刻工芸」で修業を開始し、だんじりや寺社などの伝統的な日本彫刻に携わってきました。その卓越した技術と情熱により、国内外の多くの人々に日本の木彫文化の魅力を伝え、若い世代の憧れとなる存在を目指しています。
