伝統木彫の魅力を、もっと身近に。

岸和田の店内にて開催した 「源右衛門の木彫ワークショップ」 は、おかげさまで満席となり、小さなお子さまからご年配の方まで、多くの方が木彫りの世界に触れてくださいました。

はじめて鑿を握る瞬間の緊張、木に刃が入るときの軽やかな音、削り進めるたびに変わる木目の表情。参加者の皆さまからは「思ったより楽しい！」「もっとやってみたい」「また参加したい」と嬉しい声が次々と届き、職人として何より励みになりました。

木彫は技術だけでなく、木と向き合う時間そのものに魅力が宿ります。

集中しながらも心が静まり、 “自分の手で形が生まれる” 喜びが味わえるのは、木工ならではの体験です。

今回のワークショップでは、伝統的な彫刻技法に触れながら、一人ひとりが自分だけの作品づくりを楽しんでくださいました。

木の温もり、手仕事の奥深さ、そして刃物の扱い方まで、少しでも魅力が伝わっていたら幸いです。

■ 今後の展開について

今後は ポップアップイベント や 出張ワークショップ など、より多くの方に木彫の魅力を知っていただける機会を増やしていく予定です。

伝統工芸をより身近に、そして気軽に触れられる場をつくり、「木の彫刻って面白い」と感じてもらえる人を増やしていきたいと思います。

木の表情はひとつとして同じものがなく、

そこに刃を入れることで生まれる唯一無二の作品には、量産品にはない“魂”が宿ります。

これからも、木彫の文化と魅力を広げていく活動を続けてまいります。

Bringing the warmth of traditional Japanese woodcarving closer to everyday life.

Our “Genyemon Woodcarving Workshop” held at our shop in Kishiwada was fully booked, welcoming participants of all ages—from young children to seniors.

For many, it was their very first time holding a chisel, and the moment the blade touched the wood, smiles naturally appeared.

The sound of carving, the resistance of the grain, and the joy of creating shapes with one’s own hands…

Participants shared comments such as “This is more fun than I expected!” and “I want to join again!”

These words deeply encouraged me as a craftsman.

Woodcarving is not only about technique—it is about spending time face-to-face with the wood.

It brings quiet focus, and a unique sense of fulfillment that grows with every cut.

During the workshop, participants experienced traditional Japanese carving techniques while creating their own original pieces.

I truly hope the warmth of wood and the depth of handcrafted work resonated with everyone who joined.

■ Looking Ahead

Starting next year, we plan to host pop-up events, traveling workshops, and various hands-on sessions to share the beauty of woodcarving with even more people.

Our goal is to make traditional craftsmanship more accessible, and to spark curiosity in those who may have never experienced woodcarving before.

Every piece of wood has its own character, and carving it brings a one-of-a-kind expression that mass-produced items can never replicate.

I hope to continue expanding the world of wood sculpture and sharing its charm with as many people as possible.
